Help spread the word about LIHEAP
Friends I'm asking you to help us spread the word about LIHEAP. Formally known as the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, it is a federally-funded program that helps pay the home energy bills of PPL Electric Utilities customers who meet income-eligibility requirements. We want customers who fall within income limits to apply. The bitter cold, aka the polar vortex, has stayed away for the most part so far this winter. But that doesn't mean there aren't folks out there who couldn't use this help and it doesn't mean arctic air won't decide to visit for a while. We've been reaching out about LIHEAP. So far this winter, our customers have received $3.72 million in LIHEAP grants, up 21 percent over the same period last year. We're glad to get help to those who need it. Getting help with energy bills means a limited income can go further. And that's a good thing. LIHEAP is administered by the PA Department of Human Services. Folks don't have to receive public assistance to qualify and don't even have to have an unpaid heating bill. Plus, it doesn't matter if they own or rent their home. LIHEAP funds are grants that don't have to be repaid. In addition to energy bills, they can be used for heating emergencies such as a broken furnace. Visit www.pplelectric.com/liheap today to find out more. And thanks for helping us spread the LIHEAP word! Sincerely, Teri MacBride PPL Electric Utilities Regional Affairs Director
