Riverside Sewer Department
(570) 275-5338
If you are having sewer problems in your house, please CALL US FIRST! They will check out the main sewer lines for any blockage.
In an effort to avoid problems when roots and other items found in sewer laterals are flushed into the main line and could cause problems within the main line, the Borough of Riverside hereby adopts the following as a sewer line maintenance policy. Be it enacted by the Council of the Borough of Riverside, that it shall be the responsibility of any company, business or individual working on sewer laterals within the boundaries of the Borough of Riverside to contact the Borough Manager at the Borough Office and provide the following: The location of the work site, the date, time and type of repair or flushing to the sewer lateral. This policy was adopted at the regular meeting on
Tuesday, September 3rd, 2002.
John Domanski, Council President
John LaMotte, Mayor
Note: What this is referring to is that it has been noted when a residence has their sewer lateral worked on for a suspected blockage such as root cutting, the cut debris leaves the residential sewer lateral and winds up in the main sewer line of the Borough, thus causing the potential of a main line blockage.
When the Borough is contacted, Borough crews can be present at the time your work is being performed to flush the main line to get the foreign material down the line to prevent the possibility of a blockage.
- Please do not flush diaper, baby wipes, cloth articles, personal hygiene items or anything else to this effect.
- If you are putting in new basement fixtures please call us for the depth of the main sewer line near your house.
- If you have a floor drain, think about putting in a check valve.
