Junk Vehicle Ordinance
AN ORDINANCE TO PROHIBIT THE ACCUMULATION, STORAGE OF ABANDONED JUNK MOTOR VEHICLES ON PRIVATE AND PUBLIC PROPERTY AND PROVIDING FOR THE PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE IN THE BOROUGH OF RIVERSIDE, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA.
The Borough Council of the Borough of Riverside, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, does hereby enact and ordain by authority of the Act of May 20, 1957, P.L. 174, Section 5, and under the authority of other Acts of Legislature as follows:
ARTICLE 1. Title and Purpose The purpose of this ordinance is to promote, protect and facilitate the public health, safety and general welfare by;
Regulating the storage or accumulation of junk vehicles so as to
SECTION 2. A verbal request to remove the vehicle from the Borough will be given by the police department to the owner or person or persons in possession and if after five (5) days the vehicle remains in the Borough, the police will inform the party by a certified letter. The letter will give the owner or party ten (10) days to remove said vehicle from said premises. Upon his or her failure to remove said items from the premises, he or she shall be subject to a fine not exceeding One Hundred ($100.00) dollars for each offense, and shall be also subject to all costs.
SECTION 3. Each period of ten (10) days during which a person, firm or corporation violates the provisions of this Ordinance shall be a separate offense. The police of the Borough of Riverside will file new charges every ten (10) days until the vehicle is moved.
All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed. ENACTED AND ORDAINED this ** day of ** 1986, by the Council of the Borough of Riverside, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, in lawful session duly assembled.

- Retard the propagation and the harboring of rats, mice and other vermin
- Eliminate unattractive nuisances, which may endanger the safety of children.
- Reduce the potential of spontaneous combustion and fire.
- Generally promote harmonious, peaceful and comfortable neighborhood life by the elimination of nuisances.
- Junk motor vehicle shall mean any vehicle designed for the purpose of the transportation of persons or property and not currently licensed or inspected according to the safety standards set forth in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Vehicle Code.
- Storage shall mean the parking of a vehicle in one place in the Borough of Riverside for more than seventy-two (72) hours.
