Prior to his starting his report, Caressa Compton read an email received by Secretary Bausch giving kudos to the street department for their work and professionalism. Employee referenced in the email was Street Superintendent Dan Gable. A copy is attached to these minutes. Dan stated communication with the residents is a very important part of the street department service. The leaf collection totaled 83 loads this year with the shorter collection time period. Gas line project has begun and so far only one incident has taken place; it has been resolved. Dan spoke in length of the foremen on the job and their cooperation in working in the borough. On a Motion by John Domanski and seconded by Lori Steele, Charlotte Kluge will be contacted to be the Broker for our health insurance needs. Caressa Compton, Barb Kriner, Lori Steele and John Domanski voted in favor; Carolyn Bausch abstained from the vote due to her past exposure to health insurance plan information. Charlotte will be contacted to put together a proposal for our health insurance needs. More conversation followed the vote; Dan Gable spoke on the hospital “Facility” charge he was billed for his wife’s prenatal care. Caressa Compton then added there are changes being made to insurance plans due to Obama Care policy changes. Police Chief Kerry Parkes introduced Quentin Reinford, the newest employee of the Riverside Borough Police Force. Police Officer Quentin Reinford was administered the Oath of Office by Mayor Joseph Oberdorf. Family and friends of Quentin Reinford and Kevin Romansik were on hand for the swearing in. Caressa Compton then presented a cake to the two new officers to welcome them to the Riverside Borough Police Force. Time was taken to talk with Lori Steele who will be leaving council at the end of the year. She stated she has been on council for 4 years. Caressa thanked her on behalf of council and appreciated her service to the Borough. Lori Steele said this hiatus will give her time to enjoy her new thoroughbred horse she purchased. She plans on returning to Council at some later time. On a Motion by Barb Kriner and seconded by Carolyn Bausch, the meeting adjourned, ending the 2015 Council Sessions. Meeting adjourned at approximately 7:45 pm. A time of fellowship followed the cake cutting for the evening.
