At this point, most households should have received an invitation to complete the 2020 Census on-line or by phone. Many have also received a paper questionnaire which can be completed and mailed back. Self-responding now by one of these methods eliminates the need for an in-person visit from a census worker.
In some rural areas there are households that have been designated to be counted by an in-person operation and may not have received 2020 Census mailings. These activities have been delayed, but will ultimately resume and provide an accurate count. Please encourage residents to be patient with this process. The list below shows the most recent national, state, & county response rates, along with the complete list of boroughs/cities in your county. The response rate in most areas of Northumberland County has been outstanding and continues to improve. The lowest response boroughs have been adversely impacted by the delay of in-person operations. These numbers will improve when field operations resume. Remember that the response for all areas is available on the response rate map at 2020census.gov .
