Joe Snedeker from WNEP-TV, "Go Joe" bike ride will be stopping in the park at 6:00am. Scout Troop 33B, 33G and Pack 33 will be on hand to offer coffee, donuts and water. Please join us Welcoming Joe! Joe Snedeker and crew from WNEP-TV will be stopping in Riverside at the park next to the Borough building on his 'Go Joe' bike ride the morning of Tuesday, July 22nd from 6:00am to 7:00am. Stop by for a chance to say Hi to them and enjoy coffee, donuts and water. The paving project on several Streets in Riverside Borough will begin on Thursday July 10 in the morning. Expect delays.

The Riverside Borough Council met in the Municipal Building, 415 Dewart Street, Riverside on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 7:00pm. Meeting was called to order by President, Stephen Wagner. Council members present: Peter Fleming, John Domanski, Barb Kriner and Mike Steimling Sr. Also present was Attorney Michetti, Mayor Todd Oberdorf, Kerry Parkes Chief of Police, Zoning Officer Brian Anderson and Secretary Lisa Fritz. Absent: Delavan Whitenight, Ken Gardner and Dan Gable with the Street Department Citizens present: Rob Rickard, Betty Ann Gotschal, Drew Mumich and Jim W. Snyder Pledge of Allegiance Citizens to be Heard: Betty Ann Gotschal addressed Council regarding a shed on the Mount Vernon Cemetery property that is falling over, asking if anything can be done. She spoke with Brian Anderson, Brian drove to Catawissa to speak with the owner, but did not reach them. Attorney Michetti stated Riverside Borough has no responsibility or liability for the cemetery, as it is privately owned. Attorney Michetti recommended that Ms. Gotschal contact an Attorney to research the ownership and address the shed issue. Old business: John made a Motion to approve the Meeting Minutes of May 19th. Mike seconded. All in Favor. Zoning Officer Report: Brian Anderson read over his report. Brian stopped at a group home on Monday, 6/2 and spoke with Jaime Lyons, (Executive Director of Community Options, company that owns the group home), regarding several violations of the Borough’s ordinances. Ms Lyons stated she was employed by the State and does not have to abide by the Borough’s regulations. Attorney Michetti told Brian to have Community Options Attorney contact him. Attorney Michetti asked Brian to prepare a letter to mail to the group home. Kerry mentioned that there was a situation several years ago with a man residing at the group home, whom would take his clothes off and run around outside. John made a Motion to accept the Zoning report. Peter seconded. All in Favor. Street Department Report: Peter Fleming read over Dan Gables report. Peter made a Motion to accept the Street Department report. Barb seconded. All in Favor. Southside Fire Company Report: A report for the month of April was submitted. Barb stated the carnival was held the week of May 19th and they made money despite having inclement weather. Mike made a Motion to accept the Southside Fire Company report. Peter seconded. All in Favor. Police Report: Kerry read over his report. John asked if a notice was sent to the owners with the high grass. Kerry stated a citation went out on Monday, June 2nd. Citizen, J.W. Snyder said the sign for Lonely Mountain Road has been stolen three times. Kerry will check into it. Kerry stated turnout for the Southside carnival was low this year, most likely due to the rain. Barb made a Motion to accept the Police Report, with Peter seconding. All in Favor. Mayor’s Report: Todd Oberdorf said he participated in the Pet-n-Toy parade at the Southside Carnival. He felt the Memorial Day Service in the Park was successful. He participated in the Memorial Day parade in Danville. Todd stated the Marker dedication of Captain Jacob Gearhart will take place on Saturday, September 6th from 2:00pm – 3:00pm in the area of the English Garden business. Todd met with the Montour County Commissioners to go over economic opportunities that might be available; Code Red for one would permit people to sign up for emergency notices. Montour County is expanding the Geo-coding area to include Riverside at no cost to Riverside Borough for the Code Red program. Barb made a Motion to accept the Mayor’s report. John seconded. All in Favor. Solicitor Michetti Report: None submitted. Borough Life: None submitted. New Business: None Motion to Approve: Steve got three estimates for pest control in the Municipal building from McKechney, Keystone and Pied Piper. John made a Motion to accept the estimate from McKechney to do the initial treatment, then quarterly treatment for one year. After one year Council will decide if they want to continue service. Peter seconded the Motion. All in Favor. Peter made a Motion to accept an estimate from Stackhouse & Son, Inc to replace the water pump, Check valve, Pressure tank and well cap, etc. at the Municipal building. John seconded the Motion. All in Favor. Action Items: None At 7:45pm, Mike made a Motion to go into Executive Session for personal matters. Barb seconded. All in Favor. Council went back into Public Session at 8:06pm.
