RIVERSIDE BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Riverside Borough Council met in the Municipal Building, 415 Dewart Street, Riverside on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 7:00pm. Meeting was called to order by President John Domanski. Council members present: Vice President Barb Kriner, Peter Fleming, Brian Whitenight, April Shuman and Beth Rake. Also present was Secretary Lisa Fritz. No citizens were present in the Audience. Pledge of Allegiance President John Domanski made a presentation to Street Superintendent, Dan Gable of a monetary donation collected by Council Members, the Solicitor and other Borough staff. Old business: Approval of the minutes of October 3, 2022 which was done by Motion of Beth Rake, seconded by Peter Fleming. Approved by all. John Domanski read a ‘Thank You’ card from the family of Gladys Magill for the donation the Borough made. Borough Life: Beth Rake stated that Borough Life is hosting a Halloween gathering at the Borough building on Saturday, October 29th during the Trick-or-Treat hours of 6:00pm until 9:00pm. They will be doing S’mores and hotdogs over a campfire, hot cocoa, popcorn and candy. The Boy Scouts will be hosting ‘Trunk or Treat’ at St. Peter’s Church. After Halloween, the committee will get together to discuss the “Parade of Light”, which is set for Saturday, December 3rd. Barb Kriner made a motion to accept the Boro Life report and Peter Fleming seconded the motion. All in favor. Action Items: Resolution No. 22-10-17 was adopted eliminating Police Officers’ contributions to the Police Pension Plan for 2023. Peter Fleming made a motion to adopt the resolution, Barb Kriner seconded the motion. All in favor. Peter Fleming will talk to the Knouses’ regarding the ‘Welcome sign’ placement in their yard. An Easement will be drawn up by the Solicitor for the sign placement at the Knouse property. An electrical outlet will be installed for the sign. Council agreed to pay $100.00 per year for the electricity of the sign. Brian Whitenight questioned if the pine tree on the Knouse property would be taken down, as he stated it is diseased. Peter Fleming will speak with the Knouses’ about removing the tree and having the stump grinded out. At 7:35pm, Barb motioned to move into the Executive Session, Beth Rake seconded. All in favor. At 7:49pm, Beth Rake made a motion to move back into regular session, Peter Fleming seconded. All in favor. Beth made a motion for John Domanski and Barb Kriner to represent and make decisions on behalf of the Borough in regards to the pending Whitenight case. Peter Fleming seconded the motion. All in favor. Beth Rake made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Peter Fleming seconded the motion. Council adjourned at 7:51 o’clock pm. Respectfully Submitted: Lisa Fritz Secretary
