The Montour Area Recreation
Commission, Danville Area Community Center (DACC) and the Danville Area School
District announce the 2013 Montour County Kids’ Marathon.  This event has been
created to improve the health and physical fitness of school-aged children in
Montour County and the Danville Area School District.  Designed to allow
children and parents to participate at a pace, intensity level and schedule
that  works for them, the event will begin on Saturday, June 8th, and
conclude on Saturday, August 10th, at the Danville High School
stadium.  During that time, kids can walk or run the distance of a
quarter-marathon, half-marathon or even a full marathon (or more if they can)
while tracking their progress.  At the end, all participants will come together
for the grand finale where we’ll complete the final 1.2 miles of the event
together and award medals and other special prizes to everyone who successfully
completes the event.  Full program details are available at http://montourrec.com/marc/?page_id=5555  and in

Danville Riverside Bridge Preservation Work Starts
...
Montoursville – Preservation work on the (Route
54) Danville-Riverside Bridge in Montour and Northumberland counties is under
way this week.

The work planned on the 1,440’-long bridge over the North
Branch Susquehanna River includes pressure-cleaning the sidewalk and parapets,
epoxy painting of the parapets and an epoxy overlay of the bridge deck.

Prime contractor HRI Inc. is using lane shifts for the cleaning and painting
taking place this week and next.

The contractor is scheduled to place
the epoxy deck overlay starting July 15. Traffic will be restricted to one lane
during daylight hours during the epoxy deck overlay. Motorists should plan for
travel delays during this work phase.

The preservation work scheduled on
the Danville-Riverside Bridge is scheduled to wrap up by July 19.

This
is part of a five-bridge, $1.3 million contract begun in April and scheduled for
